Le 18 mars s’est déroulée la cérémonie marquant la fin de la formation du GTIA Balanzan, présidée par le premier ministre malien, Oumar Tatam Ly, en présence de nombreuses autorités civiles et militaires maliennes dont les ministres des affaires étrangères et de l’intérieur. De nombreuses délégations et représentations internationales présentes au Mali ont également participé à cet évènement.
Après la revue des troupes par le 1er ministre accompagné du chef d’état-major général des armées, Mahamane Touré, et du général Bruno Guibert, commandant EUTM, les soldats malien ont reçu des mains des formateurs européens de la mission un insigne et un certificat symbolisant leur investissement tout au long des 12 semaines de formation.
M. Tatam, au cours de son discours aux troupes, a remercié l’Union Européenne pour son implication au profit du Mali et l’effort des 23 nations contributrices à la mission, soulignant également le travail accompli par les unités formées par EUTM lors de leur déploiement au Nord du pays. Le général Guibert a, pour sa part, salué le dévouement des militaires maliens pendant ces trois mois de formation, les exhortant à être à l’image du Balanzan, cet arbre mythique, fort et puissant quelques soient les difficultés.
Le GTIA 4 est le dernier formé par la mission EUTM au cours de son premier mandat.
End of training ceremony of Battalion « Balanzan »
On March 18th took place the end of training ceremony of Battalion “Balanzan”. This military parade officially puts an end to the three-month European training of this Malian unit.
The ceremony, chaired by Oumar Tatam Ly, the Malian Prime Minister, was also attended by the highest Malian civilian and military authorities, including the Foreign and Domestic Affairs Ministers, as well as international delegations and representations present in Mali.
After the inspection of the troops, carried out by the Prime Minister, accompanied by General Mahamane Touré, the Malian Joint Chief of Staff and General Bruno Guibert, EUTM commander, took place the most emotional moment of the ceremony. The European trainers gave to the Malian soldiers a commemorative pin and a certificate symbolizing their commitment during the 12 weeks of European training.
Before the end of the military parade, the Prime Minister, as well as the EUTM commander gave a small speech. Mr. Tatam thanked the European Union for its commitment to Mali and the effort made by the 23 countries providing soldiers to the mission and pointing out the great job being carried out by the EUTM trained units already deployed in the north of the country. General Guibert highlighted the dedication of the Malian personnel during the 3 months training, urging them to be like the Balanzan tree, which always remains strong and powerful, despite of the external elements.
The fourth Inter-Arms Task Force (GTIA) is the last GTIA trained by the European Training Mission in Mali for its first mandate.
